### Frequently Asked Questions
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/frequent-questions/

#### FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about renting a boat in Ibiza — with or without a license.

#### Boat Rental Without License

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat in Ibiza?

No, you don't need any license or previous experience. We offer a range of small boats (up to 15 HP) designed to be operated without a qualification. Before departure, our staff provides a 15-minute safety briefing where you'll go out with an instructor who explains how to start and stop the engine, how and where to anchor, navigation rules (stay 100 metres from shore), and where all safety equipment is located.

How much does it cost to rent a boat without a license in Ibiza?

Prices range from €180 to €400 per day depending on the boat model and season. Some models include fuel in the price, while others do not. You can also rent for just 2 hours (€150, subject to availability), half a day (approximately 4 hours) or a full day (approximately 8 hours). The price is per boat, not per person.

What is included in the boat rental price?

Most models include fuel, insurance, exclusive use of the boat, life jackets, snorkel equipment, sun deck, bimini (sun shade), GPS, cool box, and anchor. On some models, fuel or extras like snorkel gear and a Bluetooth speaker may be optional. All safety equipment is always included.

Can I go to Formentera without a boating license?

No, it is not possible to sail to Formentera on a boat without a license. These boats are limited to a defined navigation area along the coast of Ibiza, from Cala Salada to Cala Conta. Going beyond this limit will result in the full deposit being charged.

#### Licensed Boat Rental

What boating license do I need to rent a boat in Ibiza?

In Spain, the required qualification depends on the length of the boat: PNB (Basic Navigation License) for boats up to 8 metres, and PER (Recreational Boat License) for boats over 8 metres. We accept all EU boating licenses. For UK holders, Power Boat Level 1 and 2 certificates are accepted depending on the boat length.

How much does a licensed boat rental cost in Ibiza?

Prices range from €280 to €1,000 per day depending on the boat and the season. Fuel is not included and must be returned at the same level. A security deposit of between €1,000 and €2,500 is required (refundable). Our fleet includes boats from 6 to 13 metres with engines from 70 to 700 HP.

How far can I sail with a licensed rental boat?

With a licensed boat you can sail to Formentera, depending on the vessel. Night navigation is not permitted — rentals are for a maximum of 8 hours during daylight. You cannot anchor near the coast, over posidonia seagrass or on rocky seabeds — only on sandy bottoms. Boats are delivered with a full tank and must be returned in the same condition. You can refuel at the San Antonio Yacht Club.

#### Boat Rental With Skipper

What does the skipper service include?

The skipper service includes professional boat handling, navigation and onboard safety management, local knowledge of the best coves, anchorages and routes, and personalised recommendations based on weather and your group's preferences. The skipper service costs between €120 and €250 per day — on some boats it's included in the price.

What are the most popular boat routes in Ibiza?

The most requested routes are: Formentera day trip (Ses Illetes, Espalmador), southern Ibiza coves (Cala Jondal, Es Cubells), west coast sunset tour (Cala Comte, Cala Bassa, Cala Tarida), Cala Salada and Cala Gracioneta, and sunset sailing past Es Vedra or Cafe Mambo. Your skipper will recommend the best route based on weather and sea conditions.

Is renting a boat with a skipper suitable for children?

Yes, there is no minimum age. Skippered boats are large, very safe and equipped with all safety measures. Having a professional skipper on board makes this the safest option for families with children. Stops for swimming and snorkelling are included, with snorkel gear, a bathing ladder and a freshwater shower available on most boats.

#### Booking & Policies

What happens if there is bad weather on the day of my boat rental?

Safety always comes first. If weather conditions are not suitable for sailing, we offer a full reschedule to another date or a complete refund — your choice. We monitor conditions closely and will contact you in advance if your booking is affected.

What is the cancellation policy for boat rentals in Ibiza?

Free cancellation is available up to 45 days before the rental date with most boats. In case of bad weather, a full refund or date change is offered on all boats without exception. Last-minute cancellations are non-refundable. For skippered boats, a 20% deposit is required at booking with the balance due on the day.

### Good news !! Vaccinated Britons will be able to visit Ibiza this season!
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/good-news-vaccinated-britons-will-be-able-to-visit-ibiza-this-season/

Finally, UK people will be able to visit the Balearic Islands this summer 2021

Currently, it is difficult for British citizens due to economic reasons and quarantine rules to travel to our islands.
For these reasons there are also few flights from the UK to the Balearic Islands.

According to the British authorities, they are working on a plan so that people with double vaccination, using tests, have that test regimen in place, instead of having to be quarantined upon arrival in their country of origin.

British tourists are very important to the islands. There are places like San Antonio de Portmany or Ibiza with hotels that work exclusively with British people.
With this good news, some hotels have decided to open for the month of July.

We can say that soon we will be very happy to see British citizens enjoying our beaches with their families or friends!

Cala Comte

Spain is now a practically safe destination. With the immunization of older age groups, regional health authorities are now in the process of inoculating their next target group: people 30 to 34 years old.
Currently the rate of vaccination in Spain is very fast.
In general, there is a good response from Spanish citizens to get vaccinated, which makes the process much easier.
The island of Ibiza currently has very few active cases of COVID, being considered one of the safest destinations in Spain.
Another good news is that as of Saturday June 26 it will no longer be necessary to use masks outside. Being only necessary and obligatory inside the shops.
This is a very good thing for people who decide to come and enjoy their holidays in Ibiza!

If you are planning to visit the island of Ibiza here we leave you some incredible activities to make your vacation an unforgettable memory

#### The island of Ibiza and Formentera is on the green list

British citizens will finally be able to travel to the islands this summer!
At the moment all vaccinated British tourists will not need any PCR or quarantine upon arrival. They also do not need to quarantine when they return to their country from the Balearic Islands.
Since the news was published, many more tourists have been seen on our islands.

EasyJet said there had been a "huge increase" in people booking vacations in countries that had been greenlisted.

In the United Kingdom, the use of the mask outdoors has never been made mandatory.
Today June 26, 2021, the Spanish authorities have authorized the cancellation of the mandatory use of the mask outdoors. It will only be mandatory in shops and places where safety distances cannot be maintained. This is very good news for residents and tourists. At the moment we are all celebrating this news!

The destinations added to the [green list](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#green-list) on 30 June are:

The Balearic island (**Ibiza, Menorca, Majorca, Formentera**), Madeira, Malta.

Others (Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory and Pitcairn) and (Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Cayman Islands, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Montserrat and Turks and Caicos Islands.)

Red list: They are the Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Haiti, Mongolia, Tunisia and Uganda.

### Ibiza Off-Road, feel the wind in your face

Buggy Tour

#### An amazing adventure for everyone!

The island of Ibiza has many magical and beautiful places to explore by quad or buggy
If you dare to live this experience, and discover the island in a different way, here we will tell you everything you need to know to enjoy your vacation in a fun and unforgettable way.
These vehicles have an average maximum speed of 70km/h, this may vary, if you rent a buggy or quad tour you will find higher speed vehicles. The tours are normally 1 hour or 3 hours, and they have much more powerful and faster vehicles, there are 625cc and 1000cc buggies. While rental quads and buggies allow you to go wherever you want, with complete freedom, but their speed is a little more limited, 250cc.

To rent a buggy in Ibiza you need to be at least 21 years old and have a driving license, you cannot drive a buggy with a provisional driving license, but you can be a passenger. Children under 7 years of age cannot ride quads or buggies. We also do not recommend it to pregnant women.

[On our site you can rent a buggy and explore the island on your own, or take one of our Big Buggy tours.](https://hireboatibiza.com/quads-buggies/)

There is a briefing before each trip. If you decide to do this experience on a tour, during the entire trip, you will be under the supervision of an experienced guide who will drive his own buggy, you will also receive a briefing before the trip so that you know how to use the vehicle. The quads and tour buggies are automatic, this makes them much easier to drive.

During the buggy trip, there are also places that are perfect for a short break and photos – we will stop at the cliffs and beaches.

This is definitely a fun and exciting way to get into nature and have access to secret places where not all tourists go. It is a great experience for couples, families and friends. It is an ideal experience to combine with other outdoor activities.

### 5 Ibiza beaches that you cannot miss
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/5-ibiza-beaches-that-you-cannot-miss/

**There are some places that you can’t miss visiting, you will fall in love with its crystal clear waters, the nature of the area, cliffs, and its beautiful panoramic views. **

You can get lost on the island of Ibiza, wherever you go you will be impressed.
We have made a small list of the 5 places that you can't miss if you come to the island for a few days.

#### Cala Salada

One of the most beautiful places in Ibiza

In San Antonio, Ibiza, you will find the most beautiful beaches on the island. Surrounded by hills, and abundant vegetation with pine forests, we find Cala Salada, with a sandy bed and incredible crystalline turquoise and blue waters.

**How to get to Cala Salada? **You can go by car, taxi, bus or water taxi.

If you are in San Antonio de Portmany, and you are going to the beach by car, you will find Cala Salada just 15 minutes away, you must go in the direction of Santa Agnes, and follow the signs. Another option is to go by bus from San Antonio station, in summer there are departures every 30 minutes approximately from 10 am to 8 pm, the line that takes you is the L34, which goes to Can Coix, and Cala Salada. It is a very good option to go in high season, since you don't have to think about where to park your car, and the bus leaves you at the beach, you don't have to walk far.

We recommend you look at the schedules to better organize your trip. [**HERE**](https://eivissa.tib.org/es/autobus)

If you go by car, you should know that from May 20 to mid-October the road will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in low season and 5:30 p.m. in high season (only scooters, taxis, people with reduced mobility and restaurant customers can pass through). The only thing you can do is park at the Can Coix Sports Center, and walk to the beach, so we recommend taking the bus or a water taxi.

**What can we find in Cala Salada? **You will find rental hammocks, umbrellas, showers, a restaurant, lifeguards, parking surrounded by pine trees, toilets and access for the disabled (also to the water under the supervision of lifeguards with amphibious wheelchairs and special crutches).

In an area of wooded hills with pine trees, we find this pretty little cove of sand and stones. With clear, shallow waters. During the summer months it is a very popular area for tourists and residents.

To your right, you will see a small cove with soft sand, called "Cala Saladeta" or "Cala Saladita".

To your left, you will see a boat area built into the rock.

**What activities can we do in Cala Salada?** It is a protected reserve. An ideal area for swimming and snorkelling. Its calm and transparent waters make this place an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature.

**Point of interest:**

**Ses Fontanelles**

These caves are famous for cave paintings dating back to the Bronze Age. To get to the caves you will have to do a long walk, and unfortunately, you won't see many of the cave paintings, as they are protected by iron bars that prevent access, but the views are very incredible.

#### Cala Conta

Cala Conta has fabulous views, beautiful turquoise waters and several different areas to explore. It is one of the most famous beach on the island. The sunset in this place is unforgettable.

There are two stretches of sand, one backed by a rocky coastline, the other by sand dunes. The shallow water is safe for bathing and as clear as a swimming pool. Be careful when swimming into the open sea; there are very strong currents here - so even more experienced swimmers should avoid aiming for the island offshore.

**How to get to Cala Conta? **You can go by car, taxi, bus or water taxi. It's 15 minutes from San Antonio by car.

Ferries depart regularly from San Antonio harbor and from various stops along San Antonio Bay.
The bus to Cala Conta can be caught at the bus station in San Antonio or along the bay road. [**Here you will find the schedules.**](https://eivissa.tib.org/es/web/cie/autobus/linia/04)

Parking is not possible directly at the beach as the access is shut with a barrier. There is a large space designated for parking, on your left before the barrier. There is an area on the left where you can park without problem. It is easy to find parking, but you will have to walk to the beach. We recommend not going with many things.

Don't park along the road , it is prohibited, the police control and give out fines regularly.

In the high season, the beaches are very popular, so come either in the early morning or later in the afternoon.

**What can we find in Cala Conta? ** You will find rental Loungers, day beds, parasols, restaurants, bars, toilets, beach boutique, lifeguards, access for the disabled.

Beach bars and restaurants
The two main beaches are separated by the beach restaurant Sunset Ashram, which has panoramic views from its exposed position, and a creatively designed framework which mimics the rocks on which it sits.

Walking along the cliffs on the right-hand side, you reach two restaurants with stunning views: both of them are great spots for fresh seafood.

**What activities can we do in Cala Conta?** The many rocky outcrops also make Cala Conta an interesting place for snorkelling.

**Point of interest:** "Cala Escondida"

A third and smaller cove, called Cala Escondida , is at the far west end and reached from the top of the cliffs by steps hewn into the rock. It is popular with nudists and has a small beach bar, one of the original beach bars of the island. It is a perfect place to go in the morning for breakfast, or in the afternoon to watch the sunset. The prices are good and the attention is excellent. The only thing is that the place is very small, and difficult to find a place during sunset.

#### Cala Tarida

It is a very long strip of white sand protected by hills. It is a family beach, with crystal clear, quiet and shallow waters. The colours of the sea here are incredible! turquoise, blue and emerald green.

**How to get to Cala Tarida? ** To get to the beach you can do it by bus, taxi boat, or car. There are many of parking spaces, although in July and August it can be difficult to find.
Cala Tarida, has two accesses to the beach, on the one hand you have a very long and steep staircase, with a ramp. And on the other side a more flat and sandy area. On both sides you will find parking.

The bus to Cala Tarida can be caught at the bus station in San Antonio or along the bay road. [**Here you will find the schedules.**](https://eivissa.tib.org/es/autobus/linia/05)

**What can we find in Cala Tarida? **Sunbeds, parasols, restaurants, bars, lifeguards, public toilets, disabled access.

Behind the beach are well-urbanised hills with a large hotel club just behind, the convenience of this making Cala Tarida a popular family beach. There are also shops right on the beach to buy inflatables, snorkel gear and beach balls.

On the beach, the prices of the restaurants are quite affordable, so having a drink there while you watch the sunset, having lunch or even dinner is a good plan.

**What activities can we do in Cala Tarida?** The activities offered on this beach are Paddle boarding, kayaking, jetski hire and diving.

**Point of interest:**

The most striking thing about this beach are the views. You have different places to take photos of this wonderful paradise.

#### Cala d'Hort

Cala d'Hort is a small beach with a fantastic view of the mysterious island of Es Vedrà, which rises dramatically from the sea only several hundred metres from the shore.

**How to get to Cala d'Hort? ** Cala d' Hort is located 10 minutes by car from San Jose or from Cala Vadella.

The only way to get there is by car, the road is very well marked, it will not be difficult to find the beach.
Parking is a bit haphazard and can prove difficult in high season, so go early to guarantee a spot.

Backed by cliffs, it is situated at the end of a steep road. During busy times the road is reduced to single track due to the number of parked vehicles.

On this beach you will find areas with soft sand and others with small white stones.

It is a very small beach, so we recommend going early to find a place to park and to be on the sand.

**What can we find in Cala d'Hort**? You will find Loungers, parasols, restaurants, beach-boutique, lifeguards, access for the disabled, non-smoking beach. There is a small boutique open in high summer selling designer beachwear.

Beach bars and restaurants
There are three excellent beach restaurants in the area, renowned for fresh fish dishes including the traditional seafood paella.

**What activities can we do in Cala d'Hort**? The only thing you can do here is relax and enjoy the peace that the place transmits. This is a perfect beach to body surf on breezy days when the waves get a little higher and bash the shore.

**Point of interest:**

Visit this beach in summer to watch the sunset. It's incredible!

#### Cala San Vicente

Cala San Vicente offers a golden sand with clear waters, backed by a promenade. It's safe, beautiful and in this case wonderfully wide, so even when busy in high season there's usually space to be found. This beach can get windy at times, and the sea a little choppy, but it is often all the more beautiful for that.

Cala San Vicente is populated with an international crowd: lots of young people, families, couples and the elderly, as it's easily accessible.

Cala San Vicente is particularly impressive, because of its unbelievably brilliant azure water. It is an area with great vegetation, with forested hills on both sides.

**How to get to Cala San Vicente? ** It's 10 minutes drive from the village of San Juan, 15 minutes drive from San Carlos

Reached by car or bus, well signposted. Parking in car parks at either end of the beach. Can be busy in high summer.

**What can we find in Cala San Vicente**? You will find a Promenade, loungers, parasols, showers, restaurants, bars, shops, small supermarket, lifeguards, access for the disabled, Hi Point (interactive information point on solar intensity and adequate protection, information for emergencies such as stings, drowning and cardiac arrest, charging point for mobiles, wheelchairs and other devices)

There is a some bars and restaurants along the promenade and directly on the beach, for all budgets

It is an ideal place to go with children, it is a large beach where they can run and play. Sometimes there can be waves in the sea, and you can practice body surfing.

**Point of interest:**

We recommend you stop to one side and take a photo at the top of the viewpoint. When you are arriving at the beach you find an incredible viewpoint at the top.

### TOP 5: Things to do in Ibiza in May
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/top-5-que-hacer-en-ibiza-en-mayo/

#### What season is May in Ibiza?

The month of May is low season in Ibiza together with the months of June, September and October. It starts to get hot around 20 degrees during the day, and temperatures drop at night. Many people begin to enjoy the weather , visit the beaches and you even begin to see people in the sea.

#### Things to do in May

One of the most common questions from travelers who visit the island during the month of May is: **What can we do? Are there open places? What is the temperature of the water, can we take a bath? Are there clubs open?**

There are many activities to do in May, from sailing, taking an excursion in buggies or quads, renting a boat without a license, scuba diving, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, Jetski tour, visiting markets, or simply relaxing in a beach club.

If you are lucky, depending on the date you travel, you will be able to enjoy the OPENINGS of the most famous clubs in the world, which begin to be held from the beginning of May.

**The weather in May** is usually very pleasant, close to summer, it is an ideal month for those who suffer from extreme heat, with average highs around 25ºC and average lows of 13ºC. Practically during the day you can enjoy the sea and the sun, and at night it is advisable to go for a walk without forgetting your coat.

The water temperature is quite cold, it does not usually exceed 20ºC, on the contrary, in the month of June it exceeds 20ºC.

The rain is scarce at this time of the year, it may rain in some part of the island, but you will have warm days to enjoy the sea and the beach.

**Are there places open in May?**

Sure! In the middle of April, some businesses begin to open, to take advantage of Easter. From this date, hotels, bars, restaurants, beach clubs slowly begin to open…

Our recommendations for this month include activities for all tastes, go ahead and start enjoying your vacation!

**1. BOAT EXCURSIONS, 3 HOURS ALL INCLUDED! DRINKS, BRUNCH, WATER ACTIVITIES.**

One of the most requested activities during the month of May are boat trips. If you come for a short time, it is a good option to visit different beaches in the same day.

The excursions are generally very similar, what influences the price is the type of boat, the number of people who go on them, the quality of the products they offer and the attention of the staff.

In my opinion, one of the best boat trips for its quality and service is “**3 HOURS CHILLOUT BOAT TRIP WITH WATER ACTIVITIES**”. You will be able to visit the most beautiful beaches of the coast of San Antonio de Portmany, in a wooden boat typical of the Balearic Islands, with fruits, Spanish tapas, drinks included and of premium quality. They also have 16 paddle boards, 1 paddle board for 18 people, 2 kayaks, and snorkeling equipment for all their clients. Another important feature is that although it is a boat for 38 people, the groups are small, unlike many companies that carry out excursions with very large groups of people at a lower price.

Can you imagine what that is like when everyone jumps into the water to bathe?

Most of the excursions offer water activities, but they do not have equipment for all their clients, so you will have to wait for another to vacate a paddle board, or some snorkeling glasses, to be able to use them.

Here I leave you the best options for you to enjoy a boat trip along the coast of Ibiza, without crowds, of quality, and with the best service at your disposal.

**[-3 Hours All inclusive boat trip: ](https://hireboatibiza.com/boat-trips/all-inclusive-boat-trip/)**

**-Sunset Beach Cruise all inclusive:**

**-[I](https://hireboatibiza.com/boat-trips/ibiza-snorkeling-cave-tour/)[biza Snorkeling & cave tour:](https://hireboatibiza.com/boat-trips/ibiza-snorkeling-cave-tour/)**

**2. BUGGY TOUR, QUAD TOUR, & HIRE**

The feeling of a buggy ride is something incomparable, feeling the wind on your face, and the sunlight.

For those who want to know the island in a different way, and want to do it with a guide, the best option is to take an excursion in [**quad**](https://hireboatibiza.com/producto/quads-buggies/quad-tour-ibiza-3-hours/), or [**buggies**](https://hireboatibiza.com/quads-buggies/buggy-tour-3-hours/), where the guide will take you to explore and live an experience full of nature along the roads, pine forests, small typical towns, coves and beaches with incredible views.

Along the way, different stops will be made at places of interest and viewpoints on the island, such as the View Point on the island of Es Vedrá, one of the most magical points on the island. There will also be bathing stops to enjoy the crystalline turquoise waters after a successful and hot day, where you can cool off and take photos, and then return to the initial starting point.

It is an ideal activity to do with family or friends. The only thing you will have to bring is a coat, comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimwear, and never forget your driver's license.

If you rent a quad you will need to wear a helmet, which is provided by the rental company, and they can only drive over 21 years old, with a license.

If you prefer to rent a buggy, as they are small cars, you will not need a helmet, but a seat belt. Unlike quads, buggies can ride small children, as companions.

Dare to live a different experience by land!.

**[-Buggy, Quads tour & hire.](https://hireboatibiza.com/quads-buggies/)**

**3. JETSKI TOUR**

A jet ski excursion along the coast of San Antonio de Portmany combines the unique nature of the island of Ibiza with an indescribable and unforgettable adrenaline rush.

Here we leave you all the options available to enjoy pure adrenaline.

[-**Jet Ski Tour in Ibiza**](https://hireboatibiza.com/jetski-tours/)

**4. RENT A BOAT WITHOUT LICENSE**

### When is the best season to visit Ibiza?
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/when-is-the-best-season-to-visit-ibiza/

#### The best season to visit Ibiza

Fundamentally depend of your plans and your expectatives. The White Island is a very diverse destination.

It’s known throughout the world only to be a tourist destination for parties, djs and discos. But the reality is that Ibiza has much more to offer. It’s a paradise island with a lot of nature, and transparent waters. The people are very helpful, although the locals don't really like uncontrollable tourism and partying, they are always ready to help if someone needs it.

#### Climate:

Ibiza has a temperate climate most of the year, so it’s always a good idea to visit the island.

In high season is not the same as visiting it in spring or early autumn. Most of the hotels are open from May to October, even sometimes the season is brought forward to April for Easter. The season is also usually extended if the weather allows it.

Normally until November-December the weather is warm, with high temperatures during the day, and low temperatures in the evening-night.

The sea on these dates begins to have more waves, for this reason the season cannot normally extend beyond October, November.

During the months of July and August, is when the island is more crowded with people. There are hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, everything is open and fully operational.

Here the only thing you should keep in mind is to book days in advance, because often there is no availability for many activities, restaurants, or accommodation.

From my point of view, the best time to visit Ibiza is May-June or September and October. Plane tickets are cheaper, there are fewer people on the beaches, and on the island in general. And less traffic! This is something that not everyone takes in mind, in high season the traffic is very stressful, there are many cars, and that makes it difficult to get everywhere early, and even park.

In the low season, with fewer people, getting around the island will be easier, and many beaches and sites will be almost exclusive to you.

If you want to get to know the quieter side of the island but can only take a holiday in high season, don't worry; there are plenty of coves and quiet spots where you can relax, rest and unwind.

Previous years the high season was July and August. Currently, the busiest months in Ibiza are June, July, August and September. If you plan to travel during this period you will experience the island at its best and you will be able to choose from a wide range of things to see and do in Ibiza.

#### What to do in low season?

During the months of April and May there are some local festivals to visit.

In **April** you will find with the Easter celebrations.

In **May** you can visit the Medieval fair that takes place every year in Dalt Vila. It’s a magical moment that will transport you to the past. Normally it’s always held on the second weekend of May. Is actually commemorated is the naming of the city of Ibiza as a World Heritage Site. The old part of the city, the walled Dalt Vila, dresses up as pirates, knights and medieval ladies, and returns to the past with numerous stalls and performances.

The night of San Juan is another celebration that you will enjoy. Take place on **June** 23 and 24 throughout the island. The villages make a big bonfire, and the people gather around it. There are dances, concerts, fireworks, traditional games, food and drink stalls.

The main attraction is, of course, the party in the town of San Juan itself. Although there are also parties and bonfires in the rest of the cities and towns on the island, for example, in Ibiza town, Santa Eulalia, San Antonio, Santa Gertrudis, San Rafael and San Agustín.

Sometimes you can find ceremonies in which people jump over small bonfires during the night of June 23.

On June 24, it begins with a mass and a procession. Ending the day with a fireworks display.

During the month of **September and October**. In the town of San Antoni de Portmany, the marine fair, or medieval fair, takes place with craft and food stalls, shows, a children's area, entertainment and performances.
It is a special place to visit with children, there are wooden toy stalls oriented to the medieval and pirate style, crafts, face painting for children, stories, games, and dramatizations.

#### What to do in high season?

**High season** (From June to September) is the best time to enjoy water and nautical activities and watersports, like snorkelling, scuba diving, paddle bording, kayaking, sailing, jetski, wakeboard, and you can also rent a boat for 4-6 people without a licence and without experience!

The city of Ibiza and San Antoni de Portmany are the best places to do nautical activities, due to it’s great variety of options.

The last week of August, in the town of San Antoni, you can enjoy the festival of Sant Bartomeu. At night, an impressive fireworks display can be seen from the port of Sant Antoni. The Arenal beach is full of people. A few days before, the festival of Romans and Carthaginians is also very interesting and original, with a tomato fight included, "la tomatina", where all the participants are dressed as Romans or Cataginians. There is no need to register in advance, so you can participate if you feel like it!

**Safety tips for boating in Ibiza**

While boating in Ibiza can be an incredible experience, it is important to prioritize safety to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip. Here are some essential safety tips to keep in mind when hiring a boat in Ibiza:

- Familiarize yourself with the boat: Before setting sail, take the time to familiarize yourself with the boat's layout and safety features. Know the location of life jackets, fire extinguishers, and emergency equipment. Understand how to operate the boat's navigation systems, including GPS and radio, in case of emergencies.

- Check the weather conditions: Ibiza's weather can be unpredictable, so it's essential to check the weather forecast before heading out. Avoid boating in rough seas or strong winds, as this can be dangerous. If the weather conditions deteriorate while you're out at sea, seek shelter in a protected bay or return to the harbor.

- Follow navigation rules: Familiarize yourself with the local navigation rules and regulations. Observe speed limits, give way to other vessels, and maintain a safe distance from swimmers and other boats. Pay attention to buoys and navigational markers to avoid underwater hazards.

- Be aware of your surroundings: Keep a lookout for other boats, swimmers, and underwater obstacles. Maintain a safe distance from cliffs and rocky areas to avoid collisions or damage to the boat. Be mindful of the depth of the water and avoid shallow areas to prevent grounding.

- Use proper safety equipment: Ensure that you have an adequate number of life jackets on board for all passengers. It is also advisable to have a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, and a throwable flotation device on board. Familiarize yourself with how to use these safety equipment in case of an emergency.

- Avoid alcohol consumption: Boating under the influence of alcohol is not only illegal but also highly dangerous. Alcohol impairs judgment, coordination, and reaction times, increasing the risk of accidents. It is best to enjoy alcoholic beverages responsibly after docking the boat.

- Inform someone of your plans: Before setting sail, inform a trusted person of your itinerary, including your destination and estimated time of return. This way, someone will be aware of your plans and can raise the alarm if you fail to return on time.

By following these safety tips, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable boating experience in Ibiza. Remember to prioritize safety at all times to make the most of your trip without any unforeseen incidents.

**Planning your Ibiza boat adventure**

Planning your Ibiza boat adventure is an exciting part of the journey. By considering a few key factors, you can ensure a seamless and unforgettable experience. Here are some essential steps to help you plan your Ibiza boat adventure:

- Determine your budget: Before diving into the planning process, it's important to establish your budget. Boat hire prices in Ibiza can vary depending on the type of boat, duration of rental, and additional services included. By setting a budget, you can narrow down your options and choose a boat that fits within your financial means.

- Choose the right boat for your needs: Consider your preferences and the size of your group when selecting a boat. If you're looking for a luxurious experience, a yacht might be the perfect choice. If you're traveling with a larger group, a catamaran can provide the space and comfort you need. Take into account the number of cabins, amenities, and water sports equipment available on board.

- Decide on the duration of the rental: Determine how long you would like to rent the boat for. Boat rentals in Ibiza can range from a few hours to several days. If you're planning to explore multiple destinations, consider a longer rental period to allow for more flexibility and time to fully enjoy each location.

- Plan your itinerary: Research the top destinations and attractions you would like to visit during your boat adventure. Take into account the distance between each location and plan your itinerary accordingly. Consider the time needed for activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and exploring on land. Be sure to include ample time for relaxation and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

- Consider additional services: Many boat hire companies in Ibiza offer additional services such as onboard catering, water sports equipment rental, and professional crew members. If you prefer a hassle-free experience, consider opting for these services to enhance your trip. Discuss these options with the boat hire company and determine which services best suit your needs.

- Make reservations in advance: Ibiza is a popular destination, especially during the peak summer months. To secure your preferred boat and dates, it is advisable to make reservations in advance. Reach out to reputable boat hire companies and inquire about availability and pricing. Be sure to read reviews and compare prices to ensure you're getting the best deal.

- Pack appropriately: When packing for your boat adventure, keep in mind that space on board may be limited. Pack lightweight and versatile clothing suitable for the warm Mediterranean climate. Don't forget essentials such as sunscreen, towels, and swimwear. It's also a good idea to bring a waterproof bag to protect your belongings from splashes and potential water damage.

By following these steps, you can effectively plan your Ibiza boat adventure and ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Take the time to consider your preferences, budget, and desired itinerary to create a trip that exceeds your expectations.

### Quick question — if you’re flying to Ibiza with eight, ten, maybe twelve friends… do you really want to “wing it” when it comes to the best day of your trip?
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/large-group-big-expectations-then-read-this-first/

#### Large Groups. Big Plans. Zero Room for Mistakes.

Every summer, thousands of British, Belgian, Dutch and more groups decide to hire a boat in Ibiza. And every summer, a good chunk of them realise — usually a bit too late — that they didn’t ask enough questions, didn’t share enough detail, or booked purely on price.

Here’s the thing:

**You can never share too much. And you should never apologise for asking questions.**

If you get this part right, your boat day will feel effortless. If you don’t, it can feel rushed, awkward, or just not quite what you imagined.

So before you dive into random listings for *hire boat Ibiza*, read this properly.

#### HERE IS OUR BEGINNER’S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO BOOKING A BOAT IN IBIZA

#### First — The Mistakes We See All the Time

Let’s start with what not to do.

**Top mistakes first-time boat bookers make:**

- Apologising for asking too many questions

- Not explaining what actually matters to their group

- Choosing a boat based on price alone

- Ignoring how route affects decks, food, and timing

- Assuming every marina in Ibiza offers the same experience

Avoid those, and you’re already ahead of most people searching for *ibiza boat hire*.

#### Step 1 – Ask Everything (Seriously, Everything)

There are no stupid questions.

How long are swim stops?
Can we play our own music?
What happens if it’s windy?
Is there shade?
How much fuel will we realistically use?
Where exactly will we anchor?

All of this matters.

The route you choose shapes the entire day. A west coast cruise towards the famous **San Antonio sunset spot** feels completely different to a turquoise-water run across to **Formentera**.

You’re not booking a taxi. You’re designing the standout day of your holiday.

#### Step 2 – Tell Us What Actually Matters to Your Group

This is where things either come together beautifully — or fall flat.

When people enquire about *hire boat Ibiza*, they often just ask for “options for 10 people”. But that’s not enough.

Tell us what kind of group you are.

#### If DJ Decks Are a Big Deal

Say it upfront.

Some routes allow long, relaxed anchor time — perfect for proper deck sessions. Others are more stop-start, meaning you’ll barely get going before it’s time to move.

**If music is central to your day, we’ll recommend:**

- Boats with the right layout

- Routes with proper anchoring windows

- Timings that actually work for a deck-led experience

#### Step 3 – Be Honest About Budget and Vibe

**Not every group wants the same thing.**

Some want chilled swims, rosé and good conversation.
Others want high-energy celebration mode from the first minute.
Some are first-timers who want “the full Ibiza”.

**Tell us:**

- Exact group size

- If it’s a birthday / hen / stag / big celebration

- The energy level you’re aiming for

- Your realistic comfort zone budget

When people search for *ibiza boat hire*, they often filter by lowest price first.

But here’s the reality:
The cheapest boat on the wrong route will feel far more expensive in regret than spending slightly more on the right setup.

We don’t push the most expensive option. We recommend what actually suits your group.

#### Step 4 – Understand Ibiza’s Two Main Departure Areas

Ibiza isn’t one uniform experience. Where you leave from shapes the whole day.

#### San Antonio – The Sunset Side

- Dramatic west coast cliffs

- Clear calas

- Shorter cruise distances between swim spots

- Front-row access to the legendary San Antonio sunset spot

This is where most **ibiza sunset boats** operate. If golden-hour magic is your priority, this side delivers.

#### Ibiza Town – The Formentera Gateway

- Closest point to Formentera

- Shallow, turquoise waters

- White sandbanks

- Popular beach club lunches

If your dream is Caribbean-style water and long swims, Ibiza Town departures are usually the most efficient.

Can you combine both sides? Yes — but it affects timing, fuel and overall structure. Knowing that upfront sets realistic expectations.

#### Step 5 – Understand the Real Value

Let’s be honest.

A boat day sounds like a luxury.

**But break it down per person, and it often costs less than:**

- A premium beach club bed

- A big club table

- One heavy night out

Yet you get:

- Your own private space

- Multiple coves

- No taxi queues

- A local captain who knows the island properly

- One shared experience that everyone remembers

That’s why so many returning visitors now prioritise one proper boat day over another late night.

It’s not about showing off. It’s about doing Ibiza properly.

#### Step 6 – And Finally… Speak to us

This is the bit that makes the difference.

**PAULO has been organising boat charters here for years. He knows the boats, the captains, the routes, and — more importantly — what works for different types of groups.**

If something isn’t right for you, he’ll tell you.

If there’s a smarter option, he’ll suggest it.

No pressure. No overselling. Just straight advice based on real experience.

That honesty is usually what turns a “good” day into exactly what you pictured when you booked your flights.

#### So… How Big Is Your group?

Planning for 6? 10? 15? More?

Large groups need proper planning — layout matters, anchoring time matters, marina choice matters.

If Formentera is top of your list, we’ll guide you towards the right departure point and boat style.

If sunset is the priority, we’ll position you perfectly on the west coast.

If music and energy are the focus, we’ll design the route around that.

#### The Right Boat Changes Everything

Ibiza is brilliant from land.

From the water? It’s a different level entirely.

If you’re coming with friends and want one day that genuinely stands out from the rest of the trip, don’t leave it to guesswork.

Ask everything. Share everything. Be clear about your vibe.

And let us handle the rest.

Ready to hire boat Ibiza properly?

Drop Paulo a message, tell us about your group, and let’s build a day that feels effortless from the first **[WhatsApp](https://wa.me/34681611598)** to the final sunset. 🚤

And nowhere captures it quite like the legendary **San Antonio** coastline.

The famous **san antonio sunset spot** has been drawing crowds for decades — and for good reason. The sky turns molten gold, deep pink and burnt orange, reflecting off the sea in a way that feels almost surreal.

#### But Here’s the Insider Secret…

Watching it from shore? Lovely.

Watching it from your own boat? Unforgettable.

Our **ibiza sunset boats** allow your hen group to:

- Anchor just off the coast

- Toast the bride as the sun dips below the horizon

- Dance as the sky changes colour

- Avoid the bar queues and packed terraces

For British, Belgian and Dutch groups especially, sunset on the water feels like the perfect “we made it” moment — celebratory, emotional and ridiculously photogenic.

#### 4. Add a Splash of Adventure (Because Balance is Everything)

A great HENDO isn’t just about drinking prosecco (though there’s nothing wrong with that).

It’s about shared experiences.

From your boat, you can add:

- Snorkelling stops in hidden caves

- Paddleboards for the competitive bridesmaids

- Floating platforms for lounging

- Water toys for adrenaline lovers

Ibiza’s coastline is full of secret coves and dramatic cliffs that most tourists never see.

And when you **hire boat ibiza** through an experienced team (like ours), you benefit from local knowledge. We know:

- The quietest anchor points

- The best swimming spots

- The routes that avoid heavy boat traffic

- The restaurants worth docking for

It’s that experience that makes the difference between “nice day” and “best day of the trip”.

#### 5. Plan One Big Night — But Make It Stylish

Yes, Ibiza is world-famous for its nightlife.

Clubs like **Ushuaïa Ibiza** and **Pacha Ibiza** are iconic for a reason. Big production, international DJs, and electric energy.

But here’s a little British honesty: you don’t need three chaotic nights out to make it memorable.

Instead:

- Choose one big headline night

- Pair it with a boat day either before or after

- Balance party energy with daytime luxury

That rhythm works beautifully for groups aged 21–45 who want glamour without burnout.

A sunset cruise followed by a VIP club table? That’s how you do a grown-up HENDO.

#### Why Hiring the Right Boat Company Changes Everything

Let’s talk about what really matters.

When you search for **ibiza boat hire**, you’ll see hundreds of options. But not all boat experiences are created equal.

#### Why a Boat Day Is the Core Memory of Your Hen Weekend

Ask anyone who’s done Ibiza properly, and they’ll tell you:

The boat day is what everyone talks about afterwards.

Not the taxi queues.
Not the sunburn.
Not even the club night.

It’s:

- The bride dancing barefoot on deck

- The group photo with endless blue behind you

- The laughter drifting across the water

- The sunset toast

That’s the stuff that sticks.

And if you’re already investing in flights, accommodation and outfits, it makes sense to build your weekend around something truly special.

### Boat Trips in Ibiza: Everything You Need to Know Before Booking
URL: https://hireboatibiza.com/boat-trips-in-ibiza-everything-you-need-to-know-before-booking/

If you're visiting Ibiza for the first time, there’s one experience that consistently ranks as the highlight of any trip: **a boat day along the island’s crystal-clear coastline**.

But before booking, most travellers ask the same questions:

- How much does it cost?

- Do I need a licence?

- Is it worth it?

- What’s included?

- Where do boats go?

This complete guide answers everything you need to know about boat trips in Ibiza — so you can book with confidence and avoid common mistakes.

#### Why a Boat Trip Is the Best Way to Explore Ibiza

Ibiza is stunning from land — but from the sea, it’s something else entirely.

Many of the island’s most beautiful coves are difficult to reach by car, require hiking, or have limited parking in summer. By boat, you skip the stress and enjoy direct access to turquoise waters and hidden corners.

Some of the most spectacular spots you can visit by boat include:

- [Cala Bassa](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ngV1W22fTfMPPhja6)

- [Cala Comte](https://maps.app.goo.gl/b7jsvKFoEkTPzLz4A)

- [Cala Salada](https://maps.app.goo.gl/8ig1XBhWx2jwqZwx9)

- [Punta Galera](https://maps.app.goo.gl/w4X5hT9Z2Xwtmq466)

Expect:

- Water so clear it looks like the Caribbean

- Hidden caves and rock formations

- Swimming and snorkelling stops

- Peaceful anchorages away from crowds

- Legendary Ibiza sunsets

For many visitors, it becomes the best day of their holiday.

#### Types of Boat Trips in Ibiza

Not all boat trips are the same. Here are the main options:

#### [1️⃣ Private Boat Charter (With Skipper)](https://hireboatibiza.com/with-skipper/)

Perfect for:

- Couples

- Groups of friends

- Birthdays or special occasions

- Families

A skipper handles the navigation while you relax. Routes are flexible and can be adapted to your preferences.

This is the most comfortable and premium option.

#### [2️⃣ Self-Drive Boats (No Licence Required)](https://hireboatibiza.com/boats/rental/without-license/)

Yes — in Ibiza you can rent certain small boats **without a licence**.

Ideal for:

- First-time boaters

- Small groups

- Short half-day trips

You receive a safety briefing and simple instructions. These boats are easy to operate and allow you to explore nearby coves independently.

#### [3️⃣ Sunset Boat Trips](https://hireboatibiza.com/boats/tours/)

Ibiza’s west coast is world-famous for its sunsets, especially around Sant Antoni de Portmany.

A sunset boat trip usually includes:

- Late afternoon departure

- Swimming stop

- Music onboard

- Front-row view of the sun dropping into the sea

It’s one of the most popular experiences in peak season.

#### How Much Do Boat Trips in Ibiza Cost?

Prices vary depending on:

- Season (May vs August)

- Boat size

- Private vs shared

- Duration (half day or full day)

#### Typical Price Ranges (Private Charter)

- Small self-drive boat: €250–€500 (half day)

- Mid-size boat with skipper: €600–€1,200

- Premium yacht experience: €1,250+

Most private trips include:

- Skipper

- Fuel (sometimes limited distance)

- Insurance

- Safety equipment

- Drinks (water, soft drinks, sometimes beer or cava)

Always confirm what’s included before booking.

#### Best Areas for Boat Trips in Ibiza

The departure point changes your experience.

#### 🚤 West Coast (Most Popular)

Departing from Sant Antoni de Portmany gives access to:

- Cala Bassa

- Cala Comte

- Punta Galera

- Cala Tarida

Why choose the west coast?

- Calmer turquoise waters

- Shorter distances between coves

- The island’s best sunsets

#### 🚤 South Coast

Closer to:

- Ses Salines

- Es Vedrà

- Atlantis

More stylish beach club atmosphere and iconic photo spots.

#### Do You Need a Licence to Rent a Boat in Ibiza?

It depends on the boat size.

- Small boats (usually up to 15hp) → No licence required

- Larger boats → Valid boating licence required (PNB, PER)

- No experience? → Choose a skippered charter

If you’re unsure, it’s always safer to book with a skipper.

#### Is a Boat Trip in Ibiza Worth It?

Short answer: **Yes.**

Reasons:

- You avoid beach parking chaos

- You see multiple coves in one day

- You experience Ibiza from its most beautiful perspective

- It feels exclusive and unforgettable

For many travellers, it becomes the highlight of their trip.

#### What to Bring on a Boat Trip

Keep it simple:

- Swimsuit

- Towel

- Sunscreen (reef-safe recommended)

- Sunglasses

- Light cover-up

- Phone or camera

- Good vibes

Most boats provide cool storage for drinks.

#### When Is the Best Time to Book?

Peak season (July–August) sells out quickly.

Recommendations:

- Book at least 1–2 weeks in advance in summer

- For sunset trips, reserve early

- May, June & September offer better availability and calmer conditions

Morning trips usually have calmer seas.

#### What Happens If the Weather Is Bad?

Professional operators monitor:

- Wind

- Wave height

- Weather alerts

If conditions are unsafe, trips are typically:

- Rescheduled

- Or fully refunded

Safety always comes first.

A boat trip in Ibiza is not just another activity — it’s the experience that shows you the real island.

Turquoise water. Hidden coves. Warm Mediterranean sun. Total freedom.

Whether you choose a private charter with skipper or a small self-drive boat, the key is booking with a professional and trusted operator.

If you're planning your Ibiza trip, make sure at least one day is spent at sea.

You won’t regret it.
